TOKMANNI
Tokmanni on ottanut mittavia ympäristöystävällisyyden askeleita tavoitteenaan olla hiilineutraali oman toimintansa osalta vuotena 2025. Solarigo on rakentanut Tokmanni-myymälöihin aurinkovoimaloita jo vuodesta 2016. Nyt yli 50 asentamaamme aurinkovoimalaa tuottavat Tokmannin myymälöille puhdasta aurinkosähköä. Yhtiön omasta sähkönkulutuksesta jopa yli 7,0 % syntyy myymälöiden katoilla. Aurinkovoimaloiden toimittajavalinnassa tärkeää oli Solarigon malli, joka tarjosi Tokmannille matalan riskin energiaomavaraisuuteen avaimet käteen -tyylillä.

A large project requires a reliable supplier
Tokmanni is the largest discount store chain in Finland, selling high-quality home products at affordable prices. Founded in 1989, Tokmanni expanded in the 2000s by merging with other Finnish discount store chains, such as Maxi-Makasiini, Tarjoustalo and Vapaa Valinta. Around 3,600 employees work in almost 200 Tokmanni stores all over Finland. The turnover of the Tokmanni chain was 870.4 million euros in 2018.

A GROWING BUSINESS BENEFITS FROM EASY IMPLEMENTATION
The competition in the field of trade is fierce, and the fight for consumers' attention is increasingly focused on sustainability factors. As a listed company and Finland's largest discount store chain, Tokmanni's environmental responsibility is greater than average. One way to drive sustainability is not only to use renewable energy, but also to produce it. When choosing a solar energy provider, Tokmanni chose Solarigo because they offered both renewable energy production and self-sufficiency.
A great plan requires a reliable supplier. Solarigo's service model offers Tokmanni low-risk energy self-sufficiency as a turnkey solution. Solarigo builds a solar power plant in the customer's business premises, so the company's own investment remains minimal. Solarigo also takes care of the maintenance of the solar power plant, allowing the company to focus on its core business. Other customers' good experiences of working with Solarigo encouraged Tokmanni to develop their co-operation into a larger scale project. They set the goal of equipping 30 of Tokmanni’s stores with a solar power plant by the end of 2021. However, this goal was achieved well ahead of schedule, so a new goal of 50 solar power plants was set for 2021, which was also achieved on schedule.
The long-term goal of the steadily growing Tokmanni chain is to install a solar power plant on the roof of every new store, if the building structure allows it.
"The production profile of the solar power plants is perfectly suited to Tokmanni's electricity consumption profile, as the stores consume the most electricity during the day. Modern technology solar power plants produce electricity well even in Finnish conditions," claims Harri Koponen, Tokmanni's VP of Store Network and Concept.

NEARLY HALF OF ENERGY CONSUMPTION SOURCED FROM THE SUN
Looking at the results from 2019, the benefits are clear. In Tokmanni's experience, the installed solar plants have been of high quality and the co-operation with Solarigo has been smooth. With the help of Solarigo's expertise, almost half of the stores' energy consumption has been produced with solar power in the best months. This has both surprised and delighted us along the way, as has the low cost of solar energy.
In Tokmanni's experience, the benefits of the solar power plants are already significant. Co-operation with Solarigo has brought Tokmanni to the forefront in the wide-ranging use of sustainable and renewable energy. It's worth getting into solar power now, when switching to it is easy and cost-effective.
Tokmanni, Inkeroinen
We are very pleased with Tokmanni's solar energy programme. The production profile of the solar power plants fits perfectly with Tokmanni's electricity consumption profile, as the stores consume most of their electricity during the day. These state-of-the-art solar power plants also produce electricity well in Finnish conditions, practically from April to September.
