Cargotec and Solarigo's co-operation began with lengthy negotiations. Cargotec's contract negotiators were very particular about quality and technical details. The installation site also made the construction of the power plant more challenging than usual due to stricter safety regulations.

FROM RECOMMENDATIONS TO AGREEMENT

It was important for Cargotec to hear the experiences of Solarigo's previous customers in order to compare them to competitors. Although the negotiations were long, the process was rewarding for both parties. Convinced by the customer references, Cargotec signed up for a larger, 360 kW, system implementation offered by Solarigo. Solarigo started the planning phase based on the customer's needs: first, technical data such as electricity consumption, safety instructions affecting the installation and the price tag for the total investment were clarified. As Cargotec is an international company, Solarigo also delivered all materials and instructions in English - an important factor that enhances employee skills and contributes to safety. Cargotec offered safety training for the installation staff, which further strengthened the co-operation.

SUSTAINABILITY AT THE CORE

By switching to solar energy, Cargotec aims to increase the share of renewable energy sources in the company's operations. According to the company's sustainability goals, 50 percent of the company's electricity consumption in 2021 comes from renewable energy sources. Achieving this goal requires long-term investments with highly reliable maintenance. Solarigo's simple operating model is the perfect match for this, as Solarigo not only installs the solar power plants for the company but also maintains them with expertise throughout their lifetime. The approximately 1,300 solar panels installed in the Tampere unit produce 260 MWh annually, which corresponds to 11 percent of the unit's total consumption.

CARGOTEC

Cargotec chose Solarigo as its partner thanks to its customer focus and functional contract model. Solarigo delivered a larger-than-before solar power plant to Cargotec, and, despite the demanding safety measures, the installation went smoothly. It has been delightful to see that environmental values and sustainable development are such an important part of the company's strategy.
